Plants App

UX/UI Design
About Project
If you have a lot of plants at home or in the garden, you quickly lose the overview. You no longer know what the plant is called, where it grows best and how much water or fertilizer it needs. To name just a few cases. In these situations, my app can provide accurate information about the plant and its properties.
Task
The challenge was to create an app that makes it easy to determine plants, under what circumstances they grow best and when they should be sown.

Role
• UX/UI Design & Conception
Tools
• Pen & Paper, Sketch, InVision & Flinto
Research
After my research, I found a few apps that met my requirements. I took a closer look at their similar functionalities.
User Flow Diagram
Based on my research I defined 3 key features for my application and created a user flow diagram.
Key Features
• Search function
• Saving favorites
• Photographic detection
Low-Fidelity Wireframes
Mid-Fidelity Wireframes
After defining the key functions and creating a user flow diagram, I created low- and mid-fidelity wireframes in Sketch and analysed my app screens to define whether they were primary, secondary or edit screens.
Testing
Before finalizing the design of my mid-fidelity wireframes I decided to test it on users. To do so I built a prototype in InVision and asked 3 testers to walk through my app and comment on my design and flow. The user testing provided some useful insights for the functionality of the Plants app. In the following I will show a few key points of the testing.
Final Design
Through the insights of my testing I created the high-fidelity wireframes of the Plants app.
UI Design
To get a better visual understanding of the app I also created some mockups and an animation of the Photo loading screen.
